SunCollect, the fraction collector sample preparation device, combines four separate devices into one unit. SunCollect,
*MALDI-Spotting
*Micro and Nano fraction collection
*Continuous eluate and matrix deposition
*Spraying of matrix and enzyme solutions (MALDI Imaging)
Sample preparation is an important and time-consuming factor for successful MALDI analysis. SunCollect has been designed with the aim of achieving results with a very fast movement and high precision. With the spotting needle, small and sensitive spots with a volume of <10 nl are deposited at the same time, and it can be passed from point to point in less than a second.
When using Micro-HPLC or Nano-HPLC to separate samples, the components of the sample are isolated as fractions in the same way that analytical scale HPLC is used. In many laboratories, fractions are placed in microtiter plate (MTP) wells or detected on
MALDI-MS targets for further investigation. SunCollect MALDI offers outstanding performance for collecting fractions using the Spotter approach.
Even if the volume of the fraction is large, the entire fraction can be collected and no effluent is lost. The control software has been designed to be user-optimized and extremely simple to use. It is very easy to enter new sample collection protocols or create new target formats. In addition, a wide range of MALDI targets and MTPs from all common manufacturers can be predefined.

MALDI Sprayer
SunCollect as a Sprayer for MALDI Imaging
MALDI Imaging mass spectrometry enables visualization of the spatial distribution of proteins, peptides, pharmaceutical compounds and their metabolites, biomarkers or other compounds in thin slices such as human, animal or plant tissue. It is a promising tool for hypothetical biomarker characterization and drug development. Recent studies have also demonstrated the capability of creating three-dimensional molecular images using MALDI Imaging technology and co-registering these image volumes with other imaging Sample preparation is often the limiting factor in spatial resolution. Limiting factors include crystal size and homogeneity of matrix coverage and undesired migration/ diffusion of assays.
Breakthrough Texture Coverage
The SunCollect System uses an optimized spray generator to produce extremely small matrix droplet sizes. It atomizes the matrix solution with its patented spray nozzle using compressed air.
